Thousands die in Yemen\'s \'forgotten war\' - BBC News

2016-01-29 1

More than 6,000 people have been killed in Yemen since last March, in a struggle for power between Houthi rebels and forces loyal to the president. It has been described as a forgotten war, and the rebels, backed by Iran, have been targeted by a military force led by neighbouring Saudi Arabia.
Yemen is already the poorest country in the Arab world; its basic infrastructure is shattered and its economy is grinding to a halt.
At least 80% of the population is dependent on food aid.
Safa AlAhmad has travelled to Yemen, and reports on her journey into the besieged city of Taiz.
